Will Jeff want to have a say in Sophie’s new life? How will Mark react to that? Probably not all that well, given this genius insight into how he views him: “Screw you, dickwad. Mark has a long history of acting irrationally in love when he suddenly fears he’s going to lose everything, even if that everything isn’t what he actually wants, so bringing Jeff back now potentially opens things up for the next series. Right on the cusp.”) but because he couldn’t lose out to his cocky former colleague. We’ve seen little of Jeff in this series, save for the odd cameo and it made sense to bring him back into play here with his own feelings for Sophie forcing Mark to take action, not because Mark loves Sophie (“She’s a bit adorable, bit annoying. Mark also demonstrated some newfound feelings for his unborn child, largely because archrival Jeff was muscling in. Mark being Mark, he abandoned the lessons but, to save face, lied to Sophie even telling her he had passed. The major problem with this was that the instructor Sophie had chosen wasn’t the Attenborough-like chap he wanted. Mark had been told earlier in the show by Sophie that he had to learn to drive and she had even bought him driving lessons as an early birthday present (“She’s given herself a taxi driver for my not-yet birthday.”). I think that would be a perfect send off for the El Dude Brothers. It was a brilliantly timed sequence of events with the entire episode leading up to this final 300 seconds of Sophie’s rather unfortunate birth story. Imagine it Nancy would probably end up chatting to Joe while Elena would get back with Gail and Suze with Johnson leaving for Jeremy to give it another go with Mark’s sister Sara. Also, for Jeremy to see Nancy, Big Suze and Elena with all his chickens coming home to roost. I imagined a drunk Sophie going into Mark’s bedroom with Super Hans for Mark to walk in with both Sophie and Mark’s parents to sort out parenting rights. The party guests were Joe’s girlfriend, Molly, April and some random extras. This for me is where the episode was let down. Mark surprises Jez with a surprise party. Jeremy won’t admit to his age before admitting it can’t work between himself and Joe. It’s not every day you turn forty, and all the partying with Joe has taken its toll. Not only was Mark’s love life in jeopardy, his new job as a Loan Manager ends quicker than it began, Jeremy reports Mark for not following company procedures, resulting in Mark receiving his P45 from Johnson and being replaced by former Macho love rival and the returning Jeff.Jeremy rightfully so, receives a punch in the nose for. Mark returns to his flat to find Hans and Jeremy have taken Angus hostage and the text was just a lie. It wasn’t a happy ending for Mr Corrigan who told April how he felt, even summoning the words “I love you” and April admitting she had feelings for Mark and a supposed text from husband Angus that it was over, there was nothing in the way of Mark’s happiness. Mark more than Jez, both lonely in each other’s company. Peep Show ended how it began twelve years ago Mark and Jeremy both loathing each other. I was even right about Jeremy and Joe falling out. I predicted that Mark would chase after April, which he did, and that Super Hans would end up leaving Molly, which he did. Some were right and some were well off the mark. Well that’s it folks, Peep Show is finished and in my last review I made some predictions. Peep Show Series Nine Episode Six Are we going to be alright?
